Itinerary

Day 1: Pre-Trip Meeting

Begin with a night of learning and camaraderie. Meet your fellow travellers for dinner and drinks as your guide goes through a discussion of your gear- and hands you what you need.  Get all your questions answered, and learn how to pack your bag like a pro. You’ll get to know your expedition mates, go over your trail itinerary, and share some laughs while getting ready for your adventure into the wild.

Day 2: Hike in Patagonia's Fjordlands

Meet early the next morning to travel together to the trailhead.

On this expedition, you’ll be venturing into Chile’s newest National park, Cabo Froward. Hike along the coast of the Straits of Magellan, where dolphins jump and seabirds wheel overhead. Beside you, the towering trees of the subantactic rainforest teem with exuberant life. As you hike, learn about techniques to move and maintain your energy, and enjoy hearing about the history and ecology of this remote region of Southern Patagonia.
 

Arrive to set up your Basecamp, relax, and explore the area of Bahia el Aguila, where you will be staying. Learn how to choose an appropriate campsite, where to look for water, and how to stay without leaving a trace in places of deep wilderness. 

 

After practicing some of your newfound camp-setting skills, enjoy some free time to relax and enjoy the scenery before dinner. Enjoy a meal prepared by your guide, who will teach you some stove techniques and other tidbits to help you on your own adventures. Spend a peaceful night sharing stories and camaraderie with your fellow campers in the beauty and tranquility of Bahia el Aguila.

Day 3: Return Hike to Punta Arenas

In the morning, wake up to warm breakfast with tea or coffee as you prepare to start your day. Pack up some essentials for your day, and head off to scout the trail to Cannon Bay. Travel along the coast and through the forest, spending some time on and off- trail to learn the techniques of navigation.  

Return to your basecamp for lunch before packing up  to return to the trailhead. At the end of the trail, you'll celebrate your hard work with snacks before heading back to Punta Arenas and on to your next adventure.

  • This backpacking tour in Punta Arenas is beginner-friendly. No backpacking experience is required. However, some hiking experience is required

  • A moderate level of physical fitness is required.

  • This experience takes place in all types of weather.

  • Passengers must have adequate clothing and footwear for the conditions.

  • For your safety, your guide may change your itinerary based on weather conditions and passenger preparedness.
